HBO has just unveiled the first trailer for the highly-anticipated third season of The White Lotus, the brilliant anthology series from Mike White, and one of my personal favorite shows on TV.
The trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the lives of affluent tourists and the staff at the show’s newest location—a luxury hotel in Thailand. Check it out below before we dive in:
After taking us to Hawaii (Season 1) and Italy (Season 2), The White Lotus is now heading east. A compelling blend of dark comedy, character drama, and mystery, each season opens with a murder or murders, though the identities of the victim(s) and killer(s) remain a mystery until the very end.
Season 3 brings an all-new cast, with one familiar character returning, echoing the pattern of Season 2, where a character from the first season was given a much larger role. The star-studded ensemble includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, and Aimee Lou Wood. Additional cast members include Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Christian Friedel, Scott Glenn, Dom Hetrakul, Julian Kostov, Charlotte Le Bon, Morgana O’Reilly, and Shalini Peiris.
I’m especially excited to see Walton Goggins and Jason Isaacs in these roles, as they seem tailor-made for The White Lotus. It’s also great to see Michelle Monaghan, fresh off her excellent role in the Apple TV series Bad Monkey, and well-remembered for her standout performance in the first season of True Detective.
The White Lotus has earned critical acclaim, racking up 43 Emmy nominations across its first two seasons and winning 15, including a Best Supporting Actress award for Jennifer Coolidge in 2023. The first season also took home the prestigious Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series award, while Season 2 earned a Drama nomination, though it lost to the juggernaut that was Succession (honestly, what show stood a chance against that one in 2023?).
