Dayle Haddon, the former supermodel, actress, and humanitarian, tragically passed away on Friday, reportedly due to a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Police from Solebury Township responded to the scene early that morning, following a 911 call about a 76-year-old man found unconscious on the first floor of a detached “in-law” suite. The man was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, though his condition remains unclear. Authorities also discovered a second victim, a 76-year-old woman, who was found deceased in a bedroom on the second floor of the suite.
Deputy Coroner Eliot Gross confirmed that the female victim was Haddon. Toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death are expected on Saturday.
First responders at the scene reported a “high level of carbon monoxide” in the home. Two paramedics were transported to the hospital for carbon monoxide exposure, while another was treated on site.
CBS News identified the home as belonging to Haddon’s daughter, former journalist Ryan Haddon, and her husband, actor Marc Blucas.
Haddon, a Canadian-born icon, rose to prominence as one of the leading models of the 1970s, famously gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 1973 Swimsuit Issue. She also made a name for herself as an actress, starring in the 1973 Disney film The World’s Greatest Athlete and the 1979 football satire North Dallas Forty alongside Nick Nolte. Haddon served as a spokesperson for L’Oréal and authored the book Ageless Beauty: A Woman’s Guide to Lifelong Beauty and Well-Being.
Beyond her career in fashion and entertainment, Haddon dedicated much of her life to humanitarian work. She traveled globally as a UNICEF ambassador and founded WomenOne, a charity aimed at providing educational opportunities for girls and women.
Blucas, 52, is a former college basketball player and actor, best known for his role as Riley Finn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He has also appeared in Blue Bloods, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and starred in the 2004 film First Daughter opposite Katie Holmes.
Ryan Haddon, who was married to actor Christian Slater from 2000 to 2006, has been married to Marc Blucas since 2009.
