Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized after sustaining an injury during an official event in Luxembourg. Despite the fall, which occurred on a staircase, Pelosi continues to work, according to her spokesperson.
Pelosi’s office did not disclose specific details about how the injury occurred, but sources confirmed to CNN that the fall led to her hospitalization. Following the incident, the U.S. military transferred Pelosi to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for further treatment. The facility, known for treating U.S. military personnel injured in combat, provides specialized care.
At 84, Pelosi is receiving “excellent” medical care, as confirmed by her spokesperson Ian Krager. He stated that the Speaker Emerita is undergoing treatment and remains in good hands with medical professionals.
While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Luxembourg for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Pelosi was injured during an official engagement. Krager expressed her regret that she would miss the remaining engagements, but emphasized that Pelosi is still committed to her work and looks forward to returning to the U.S. soon.
Pelosi’s injury comes shortly after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 82, also had a fall, tripping at the U.S. Capitol and sustaining a minor wrist sprain and facial cut. His spokesperson reported that McConnell was cleared to continue with his schedule after receiving medical attention.
